Driving Solo

Congratulations! You've passed your test and are ready to go it alone!

There's no-one sitting beside you telling you what to do now. Getting from a to b without incident is wholly dependent on your own skill and judgement.

Unfortunately research shows that:

  • In your first year of driving you are 4 times more likely to be involved in a crash than at any other time in your driving career
  • New drivers take up to 2 seconds longer to see and react to hazards.

Consider displaying P Plates to let other drivers know you are new to the road. You may want to consider improving your driving skills by taking Pass Plus or going on an Advanced Driving Course.

At all times:

  • Keep your distance from the car in front
  • Slow down and give yourself time to think and react.
