On 27th February 2004 the Government increased penalties associated with 3 fatality offences from 10 to 14 years for causing death by dangerous driving; causing death by careless driving when under the influence of drink or drugs; aggravated vehicle-taking where, owing to the driving, a death results and the maximum sentence for manslaughter is life.
